Read about some of the settlements and verdicts that Edgar Snyder & Associates has received for our clients: Settlement reached for 2-year old girl attacked by dogOur client, a 2-year old girl, was attacked by a family friend's dog while playing with it. She and her father were just visiting and had been advised that the dog was friendly. The little girl was immediately taken to the emergency room. She sustained two large facial lacerations that had to be closed and multiple puncture wounds. Unfortunately, her wounds became infected and required treatment with topical antibiotics as well as oral antibiotics. As a result of her injuries, our client has permanent scarring to her face and will have to undergo scar revision when she is much older and her skin has matured. In the meantime, she will have to live with the scars. The case was settled out of court. Lawsuit settled for teenager struck by car while chased by unrestrained dogOur 13-year old client was chased down a city sidewalk by a furiously barking unrestrained 150 pound Labrador Retriever dog The boy, in a panic, tried to cross the street to get to his home and was struck by a car while running from the dog. Witnesses observed the boy running into the street with the dog on his heels. A lawsuit was filed and during the litigation, it was discovered that the dog had gotten loose and had chased another person several months prior to our client's incident. This previous victim had filed a police report. While our client was not bitten by the dog, the dog owner was found to be responsible for the boy's accident. A lawsuit was filed and the case was settled a few days before trial for our client. Verdict awarded to woman knocked down by RottweilersOur client, a 60-year old secretary on her way to catch her bus to work in the morning, was chased by two Rottweilers who had escaped from their fenced-in year by climbing over firewood piled against the fence. The two dogs chased the victim down the sidewalk, jumped on her back and knocked her down, causing her to fracture her ankle. The dogs remained over her on the ground, barking and growling. Our client was rescued by good Samaritans who got out of their cars to help her. While the victim was not bitten, the dog owners' were liable for the attack and the woman's injury. The case was tried and a verdict was awarded for our client. Settlement reached for girl bitten and dragged by Pit BullOur client, a 10-year old girl, was a guest at a friend's back yard picnic and was playing ball with a group of children. The ball was hit and rolled near a dog house where the owner's Pit Bull was tied on a 15 foot chain. The girl, not expecting the chain to be that long, attempted to retrieve the ball. The dog attacked her, bit her on the hand, foot and leg repeatedly, and dragged her several feet towards his dog house. The other children rescued her by striking the dog with sticks and bats. She required multiple surgeries on her foot and leg. The case was settled out of court after suit was filed. Settlement reached for small child attacked by landlord's dogOur client, a 4-year old boy, was attacked in his driveway by a Golden Retriever. The dog was owned by the landlord. The landlord was close to the dog, but the dog was not on a leash at the time of the attack. The boy was bitten in the face and lip, sustaining permanent scarring and irregularity of the lip. A lawsuit was filed and depositions (statements under oath) of the dog owner and his neighbors revealed that the dog had attacked and bitten another child in the face one year prior to attacking our client. The case was settled out of court after suit was filed. Dog bite injury?
